The last game of the season is always hard—choking back tears as we quietly close the book on another chapter. But it’s the basketball banquet that truly brings the weight of it all. It’s the moment when the season feels officially over.
We gather to celebrate—the memories, the milestones, the awards, and the team. But tucked within that celebration is a quiet loss. Our basketball family changes. We lose a small piece of it as our seniors graduate and move on.
It’s a bittersweetness you can’t always see, but you can feel it—especially when your passion for the game runs as deep as your love for the players. You watch them struggle, strive, thrive, and sometimes barely survive a season… sometimes more than once. You feed them, cheer for them, clean up after them, and carry their emotions alongside your own—from the very first practice to the final time they step onto the court.
The laughter. The smiles. The frustration. The anger. The tears.
We look back on it all—the good, the hard, the could haves, should haves, and wish we would haves. And somehow, at the same time, we find ourselves looking forward… already holding onto hope for what’s next.
Because yes, it’s just a season. And there’s always another one—until there isn’t.
And for our seniors, tonight is when we realize… this one is truly over.
I couldn’t be more proud of the gentlemen we are losing this season. Each of them are stand up young men with bright futures and kind souls. I am truly blessed to be part of their paths and can’t wait to see where their futures take them. We will still be here in the crowd, cheering each of you on along the way.
Congratulations Class of 2026 and Good Luck to our Seniors:
Jack Dykstra- Gavin Markucki- Peyton Orley- Luke McGrath- Sully Abegg
